After a, club record, 4 game losing streak, the Toft lions looked to bounce back against the mighty (as in they had actual giants playing for them) E-UK. The kit man made his feelings clear about this dip in form by ensuring the proud orange shirts hadn’t seen the inside of a washing machine in weeks.
After an encouraging warm up (not a single ball was lost!) the Lions set about repairing the damage their goal difference by making short work of E-UK’s creaking defence. A nice move down the left, which started with ‘New Dan’, ended with Will dinking the ball over a static back line for Ed to dispatch with aplomb. Further goals from Ed, Alban and a peach from George followed before ‘Greg’ scored. The ref, sporting very fetching head ware, attracted derision from E-UK players for having the temerity to use his whistle. After an inspired tactical move from the Bailey to switch Preece with Jez, Cam quickly conceded a ‘soft’ penalty… Preece lay down and watched the ball roll in the opposite corner, a trick he would repeat shortly afterwards to sportingly gift a second consolation goal to E-UK. The game finished 5-2, a return to form for the Lions, who have earned themselves a kit wash… alas, there isn’t a washing powder strong enough to ensure the clean sheet Shaun so desperately craves.
